Good morning, afternoon or evening and welcome back to the 30 Day Anime Challenge on the Alfredeo Blog! This is where I discuss the topics from the list above on their respective days and give my thoughts and choices on them. It has been very fun and interesting to talk about these so I suggest you should check out the earlier posts!
Also, this challenge is opinion based. Please do not bash on my choices, that’s not what I want on my blog. Instead, give your thoughts on today’s topic and I would be glad to read it!
Oh yeah, to all the mothers in our lives, Happy Mother’s Day, at least in the US. Here is my favorite mom from an anime:
Whenever I watch anime, I tend to pick the genres of slice of life, romance, comedy, drama and/or music based. While I think action and adventure are still interesting, I mainly enjoy the funny aspect of entertainment.
So, today’s topic is an anime that never gets old no matter how many times I have re-watched it. And it has some of those genres I mentioned.
The anime I am talking about is YuruYuri (2011), a slice-of-life comedy made by Doga Kobo who also made other anime on the same level as this one such as Himouto Umaru-chan! and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
To sum this anime in one sentence: Four middle school girls have their random and hilarious shenanigans in life together while some having crushes on each other. That’s seriously it. It might sound really boring but it’s a pretty decent SoI comedy.
I believe that this anime really doesn’t get old, no matter how many times I’ve watched it.
I think it’s the entertaining and unique characters, how they interact with each other and the creative comedy that happens in this anime that makes me laugh every time I watch it.
The characters in this show can range from the main character who gets forgotten all the time to a tsundere. The interaction between these characters also makes the humor in this show very entertaining, mainly because of the great friendship they have and how hilariously they handle having a crush on one another… or in Chitose’s case, how she handles fantasizing about two characters having a romantic relationship.
In conclusion, this is your ordinary slice-of-life comedy with a cherry on top that is the “yuri” aspect of the ice cream sundae. If you happen to want to watch a good slice-of-life comedy and haven’t seen this anime, highly suggest you to check this one out.
