Good day to you and welcome back to the 30 Day Anime Challenge on the Alfredeo Blog! This is the segment on the blog where I discuss the different topics from the list above on their respective days and give my hopefully interesting thoughts on them. If you’ve been enjoying these, I really am glad to hear that and if you’re new here, I hope I will entertain you somehow haha.

Also, this is opinion based. I would really not like a rude comments section on my blog so instead of bashing on my choices, please give your thoughts on today’s topic and I would be glad to read it!

So, yesterday’s topic was my favorite male supporting character, and today, we’re going to look at my favorite female supporting character. And as I said yesterday, I don’t really pay attention or remember many supporting characters after I finish watching a show so I had to think about this for a significant amount of time. But, I’m gonna break the rules a little today and say that I have a favorite female supporting character group. And they are…

One of the most popular school idol groups, A-RISE, from the anime, Love Live! School Idol Project.

Here’s a little backstory: Before µ’s was a thing, A-RISE was an extremely popular school idol group from a rich-looking high school in Akibahara called UTX. Many, many people adored these three idols, Erena ToudouAnju Yuuki and the main member, Tsubasa Kira. Due to A-RISE’s amount of popularity, Tsubasa wasn’t very concerned about another school idol group taking the spotlight from them.

But, with µ’s gaining a lot of popularity throughout the show and are determined to enter the ultimate school idol competition, Love Live!, Tsubasa and A-RISE definitely are aware of this upcoming group.

What I like about this group is that they don’t go the asshole route when it comes to coming face to face with µ’s, even though they are rivals to each other. Tsubasa, who does most of the talking, is very calm and even invites the whole group to their school to discuss things about the competition. They go as far as to let them perform at their own high school, since µ’s did not have a location to perform for the Love Live prelims. While Tsubasa praises and supports µ’s, she is still determined that A-RISE will knock them out of the competition with all their might.

Not only their mentality and the great amount of respect, but they can sing and dance, I’ll tell you that.

In conclusion, this group of women are pretty cool. When we see a musical group in any type of entertainment, whether it be anime, American media or anything, there is a rival group that tends to be really hostile to the main group. But, Love Live! doesn’t do that with A-RISE, which I respect that very much since it’s a change of tone.

Honorable Mentions

    1. Yeah, I definitely would’ve wanted more competition and maybe even a little drama between these two. Yume no Tobira is a great song but A-RISE’s song stuck with me more than the main group’s performance at prelims.
