Welcome back to Currently Watching: Summer 2017 edition! This is where I’ll be talking about the different anime that is currently airing right now and share my, hopefully, interesting thoughts about them!
It’s only been the first week of the season, but the shows so far have impressed me!
Today’s anime that I’ll be reviewing the first episode for is Tsurezure Children (2017), a romance comedy adapted from a manga, created by Studio Gokumi (Kiniro Mosaic, Seiren, NAKAIMO – My Little Sister Is Among Them!).
So, what this anime shows us are different scenarios or stories about young love developing. How they do it is, I think, they’ll show different and unique scenes about an aspect of love, for example, this week’s “theme” was confession and the different ways two characters handle confessing to their crush.
I won’t spoil all four scenes cause I actually recommend you watch this, but one of them was about a girl, Yuki Minagawa, who is the female class rep and a boy, Jun Furuya, who is the male rep. One day, they are working on something and the class rep just straight up confesses to Jun, and it definitely shows that he doesn’t know how to handle it. Throughout their conversation, embarrassing topics come up like being a virgin, and they show Jun desperately trying to avoid talking about dating while Yuki keeps teasing him and asking him if he likes her back.
It was pretty amusing and made me chuckle a little bit. It’s an entertaining romance comedy, definitely.
The characters in this show are unique in their own way and definitely show us different personalities and how they can handle love at a young age. One character can be careless and act tough, but can get embarrassed easily, while another character who is completely honest and is really straightforward when it comes to confessing. I hope that wasn’t a bad explanation on what kinds of characters there are.
Speaking of characters, this show got a hold of some great voice actors and actresses who do a nice job depicting their roles. To name a few, we got Kana Hanazawa (Kosaki Onodera from Nisekoi) as Yuki Minagawa, Kensho Ono (Tetsuya Kuroko from Kuroko no Basket) as Masafumi Akagi, and Inori Minase (Rem from Re:Zero) as Chizuru Takano, so it’s a great cast behind all the nice characters.
Like always, I don’t really pay attention to the BGM (even though I should) and I only paid attention to the opening sung by Inori Minase, which is pretty damn good in my opinion.
The art looks different, especially with the eyes on the characters. That isn’t a bad thing, it looks really good and cute, which goes well with the story. Especially Yuki’s big smile, oh man, what a sight to see.
In conclusion, if you like cute, short romance comedies and you have like 15 minutes to spare, you should definitely watch this show.

Later today, or even tomorrow (it’ll probably be tomorrow), I’ll be reviewing the first episode of Koi to Uso. Look out for that soon!
